IMI - Property Tax payment

The deadlines for making IMI payments on Portugal mainland normally are: 

• If the amount to be paid is up to 100 euros, it must be paid once, by the 1st of June 2026 

• Two instalments (more than 100 euros and equal to or less than 500 euros): by the 1st of June and 30th of November 2026 

• Three instalments (more than 500 euros): by the 1st of June, 31st of August and 30th of November 2026.

All Saints' Day

All Saints' Day is an official public holiday (Dia de Todos os Santos) which falls on a Saturday this year. 

This day is a significant holiday that combines religious observance with rich cultural traditions. Families get together and visit the cemeteries to honour their deceased loved ones.

Many people attend special Masses held in churches to pray for the souls of the deceased and to celebrate the lives of saints.

 

Winter time

The clocks will go back one hour at 02h00 (2am) Sunday the 25th of October on Portugal mainland and Madeira (for the Açores this will be at 01h00). Enjoy the extra hour.

Portugal Day

Portugal Day, officially ‘The Day of Portugal, Camões, and the Portuguese Communities’ (Dia de Portugal, de Camões e das Comunidades Portuguesas) is celebrated annually on 10th of June. It is one of the public holidays in Portugal and is celebrated by Portuguese people throughout the world. The afpop office will be closed on that day.

Labour Day

The afpop office will be closed on Thursday the 1st of May, which is a public holiday (Dia do Trabalhador). On May 1st, the rights and duties of workers are also celebrated almost everywhere in the world. In addition to political and social aspects, many people take advantage of the holiday to spend time with family and friends, enjoying picnics, barbecues, and other leisure activities.
